Hardie Panel is vertical fiber cement siding sold as large sheets rather than individual boards. The sheets are made from cement, sand, and cellulose fibers, so they will not rot, swell, or feed a fire the way wood can. They install vertically over a weather-resistive barrier, with joints that land on wall studs.
